The australian player just won hs first career title

Alex de Minaur is the second name announced for the fifth edition of the Millennium Estoril Open - promoted by 3LOVE at Clube de Ténis do Estoril, between April 27 and May 5. This means that after the ‘Most Improved Player of the Year’ (Stefanos Tsitsipas), the biggest Portuguese tennis event will also be attended by the 'Newcomer of the Year' of 2018, an award received by the young Australian following the meteoric rise that took him from 208th place to 31st in the world rankings at the end of the season. Following his triumph in Sydney, he now presents his best ever ranking.

In a message sent directly from the Australian Open to the organization, young De Minaur left the following words: "I had a very positive experience in the 2018 edition where I felt tremendous support and warmth from the Portuguese public. I am very motivated to return to the Estoril courts this year and feel that I am a lot stronger and with a desire to go even further and maybe raise the Winner Trophy. I loved my experience in Cascais, in one of the best hotels on the ATP Tour, and I'm very anxious to play again in front of my Portuguese fans."

On the return of Alex de Minaur, João Zilhão, director of the Millennium Estoril Open says: "In the 2018 edition, we bet on two young players unknown from the general public and they finished the season discussing the final of the NextGen ATP Finals; this year, they will return as established leaders of the male professional circuit and, yet, both with a huge margin of progression. After Stefanos Tsitsipas, we are pleased to reveal that Alex de Minaur will also be competing at the 2019 Millennium Estoril Open. Alex de Minaur embodies the type of player we enjoy: great potential, total commitment and very competitive, characteristics confirmed with the achievement of his first ATP title, last month in Sydney.
