João Domingues: "I'm really happy I beat De Minaur"
Despite getting the biggest win in his career, João Domingues wasn't that excited at the conference room, due to his level of play in the match.
"I didn't feel like I was playing the best match of my life. Playing conditions were really tricky, and of the sides of the court was specially defiant because of the wind, but we have to be able to play under any circumstances", said the portuguese player, who didn't hide the obvious satisfaction of beating "such a great player as De Minaur".
"He is the typical hard-court player. He enjoys setting a quick pace and he is really good on the counter-attack. He has some troubles reacting to variations of height of the ball. He has an excellent backhand, but his forehand is his weakest shot, and that was exactly what I tried to explore in this match", said Domingues.
About his potential opponent - whom will come out of the clash between Bernard Tomic and John Millman (another aussie, that's for sure) -, the third best portuguese player (ranked 214) admits he doesn't know much, and he will wait for the winner to start his preparation.
Before leaving the conference room, João Domingues gave us a guarantee: "You don't have to tell me that I can win the tournament. I believe in myself, regardless of anyone I'll play against, I always have a chance to win".
