Tsitsipas sets a meeting with portuguese João Domingues
A year after reaching the semis here at Millennium Estoril Open, as one of the prodigious players from ATP's #NextGen, the young greek is now back to the portuguese tournament as first seed, and already got his first victory.
Stefanos Tsitsipas was chosen to inaugurate this year's night sessions and he didn't disappoint. The first seed has managed to overcome the tough playing conditions - the afternoon brought the wind which lasted until the end of the match - winning over argentine Guido Andreozzi 6-3 and 6-4.
The world number 10 rapidly got himself a 3-0 advantage, with an early break. Taking fully control of the match, Tsitsipas intentionally tried to shorten the points whenever he could, so his game quality wouldn't be that harmed by the wind gusts. He was ahead of Andreozzi in the majority of the time, the exception being the beginning of the second set, when the argentine was 2-0 ahead. But it didn't took long. The 20-year-old greek then found his way out winning four games in a row, which allowed him to close the match comfortably.
This victory means Stefanos Tsitsipas proceeds to the quarter-finals of Millennium Estoril Open for the second consecutive time. The portuguese João Domingues is already waiting for him, after benefiting from Millman's withdrawal.
