Under the spotlight
Lights, tennis, action. Night sessions are back to Clube de Ténis do Estoril today. And what a way to start we have here!
A year after reaching the semis at Millennium Estoril Open as one of ATP #NextGen's most promising players, Stefanos Tsitsipas is now back as first seed, and will be facing the argentine Guido Andreozzi.
Coming up next, Jérémy Chardy will be playing against qualifier Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the last match of the day at Estádio Millennium. The frenchman left the player with the greatest curriculum ever at the tournament (Pablo Carreño Busta) behind. But the young spaniard just got his first victory in an ATP main draw and will not make it easy for Chardy.
The opening match, though, will be held between the portuguese João Domingues and the australian John Millman, who might as well still be bragging about his win over Roger Federer at last year's US Open.
Also in the daytime session, the renowned Gael Monfils is getting into action. The third seed frenchman presents himself at Millennium Estoril Open for the first time ever, after conquering the title in Rotterdam, hitting the semis in Dubai, and the quarter-finals in Indian Wells.
In the doubles draw, portuguese João Sousa (alongside Leonardo Mayer) will be seeking for his second semis in a row here at Millennium Estoril Open.
